Chelsea Townhouse
This large and elegant townhouse was untouched for over thirty years. Working with the client, alongside architect and contractor, my role was to bring in additional design details and a complete redecoration, to create an elegant, refined and understated family home.
To unite the open plan formal living space on the raised ground floor, we used a smart and tonal decoration scheme, with made-to-measure furniture, unlacquered brass hardware and bronze decorative elements. To manufacture the spectacular Easton bolection chimneypiece we sourced Italian Breche marble from Jamb and central alabaster hanging dish from Charles Edwards.
We applied decorative beading on the walls, this design element creating a cohesive feel, connecting the living spaces and echoing a traditional design theme and stylish detail throughout the home.
The elegant and contemporary design of the lower ground floor features a spectacular Arabescato marble island, the centre piece of the large kitchen, with a welcoming family sitting room to the front, with a natural and textured decoration scheme, using fine, hand-printed British fabrics and materials. To the rear, a light and airy dining room, overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden by designer Butter Wakefield.
Further down into the new basement, to balance aesthetic and function, I introduced a glazing and steel framed design, containing state-of-the-art gym equipment, superbly partitioning the lower ground floor family media room, from guest bedroom, laundry and cloakroom, with a sense of light and space.
On the first floor, a master bedroom set across the entirety, with his and hers dressing room and ensuite bathroom with elegant fittings from Drummonds; a sanctuary of peace and calm with cool green tones, exquisite marble and oak plank floor.
Upper floors dedicated to bedrooms with restful compositions, hand-made soft furnishings and coordinating window treatments.
On the roof terrace, spacious seating is layered with smart, specialist outdoor upholstery.
To complete the interior decoration scheme, I sourced unique objects and bespoke British made, artisanal items, providing a unique touch to enhance this serene and timeless home.
